Alamo Flag - 1824
Alamo Flag 3 x 5 foot red, green and white vertically striped printed outdoor grade Perma-Nyl nylon Alamo Flag with heavy duty brass grommets and black text in the white stripe "1824". Our Alamo Flag is 100% made in the USA.
The Alamo flag was created by replacing the Eagle in the center of the Mexican tricolor with the year "1824", to reference the 1824 Constitution of Mexico, in support of which Texans were fighting. The Alamo flag was the first flag approved for use by rebel forces by a Texan legislative order. In 1835, the Texan provisional government approved the use of the Alamo flag for privateers preying on Mexican commerce.
It has often been arguably said that the 1824 flag was flown by Texan forces at the Battle of the Alamo. However, this was only alleged many years later in 1860, long after the battle of the Alamo had occurred. Modern historians have repeated pointed out that the presence of the 1824 flag at the time and place of the battle of the Alamo is highly unlikely.
