Bonnie Blue Flag

Historical Bonnie Blue Flag 3 x 5 foot printed outdoor grade Perma-Nyl nylon single white star in a blue field with solid brass grommets. Our Bonnie Blue flag is 100% manufactured in the USA.

The Bonnie Blue Flag featuring a single white star on a solid blue field, was the flag of the short lived Republic of West Florida. However, decades later, during the Civil War, it became an quite unofficial banner of the Confederacy, inspiring the famous song "The Bonnie Blue Flag," which was historically sung by Southern troops.

The Bonnie Blue flag was created by Melissa Johnson, wife of Major Isaac Johnson, and commander of the West Florida Dragoons. On September 11, 1810, settlers in the Spanish territory of West Florida revolted against the present Spanish government and proclaimed themselves an independent republic. The Bonnie Blue Flag was most notably raised at the Spanish fort in Baton Rouge on September 23, 1810. Then on December 6, 1810, the West Florida republic was annexed by the United States and ceased to exist after a life of 74 days
