The West Virginia Mountaineers are the athletic teams that represent the West Virginia University. The school is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I and the Big East Conference. The school's mascot is referred to as the Mountaineer. The two major sports at the university are football and basketball, although many of the other sports are popular amongst the school as well. The West Virginia University athletic program also has the honor of being the only school in the nation in 2007 to win a BCS game, a NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament game, and also a NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament game.
