Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars NFL MerchandiseAt 2:12 p.m. November 30, 1993, Jacksonville was named as the 30th NFL franchise. The next day, 25,000 fans celebrated at the Gator Bowl as season ticket sales were kicked off. In just 10 days, the Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville's daily newspaper) announced sales had surpassed the 55,000 seat mark. After the Gator Bowl game on December 31, 1993, the old stadium was torn down and replaced with a reinforced concrete superstructure; all that remained was the west upper deck and a portion of the ramping system. The new Jacksonville Municipal Stadium (known as Alltel Stadium from 1997–2007) opened on August 18, 1995 with a preseason game against the St. Louis Rams. |
