New England Patriots
Pats Outdoor FlagsBeginning in 1959, The Patriots became the eighth franchise AFL. That winter, ideas where submitted for this new Boston football team's official name. The "Boston Patriots" was chosen due to the overwhelming popularity. Shortly after that, Boston Globe artist Phil Bissell developed the new "Pat Patriot" logo which would remain the teams logo through the 1992 season. Since 1970, when the Patriots became a part of the AFC East division, they played play in the NFL. The next year, the Patriots got a a new stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and changed their name from the Boston Patriots to the New England Patriots. This would be their home stadium for the next 30 years. In 1993, drastic changes were made to the Patriots uniforms. Their colors changed from red and white to blue and silver, and they sported a bran new logo. Their current coach, Bill Belichick, has been with the team since 2000, and a new home field, Gillette Stadium was opened in 2002. |
