Iwo Jima USMC Flag
This flag commemorates the rasing of the American flag during the battle of Iwo Jima during WWII, but most recently following the tragic events of 911 its meaning, persistence and full out patriotic symbolism seem to have re-embraced and reborn. The scientifically developed color sharp and vivid process printing allows on one side to bleed through to the other side as well. Our 3 x 5 ft Polyester USA Iwo Jima Flags have 2 brass grommets for easy attachment to a flag pole.
This raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a historic photograph taken on February 23, 1945, by Photo journalist Joe Rosenthal. It depicts five United States Marines and a U.S. Navy corpsman raising the American Flag atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. This iconic photo was the only photograph to win the Pulitzer Prize for Photography in the same year as its publication, and has come to be regarded in the United States as one of the most significant and recognizable images of the war, and possibly the most reproduced photograph of all time.
